Success and Self Confidence

Most people think that success comes from having self confidence.

But, it’s a funny thing. In most interviews I listen to of successful entrepreneurs. they all say the same thing - they struggled terribly with lack of self confidence.

You may know exactly what I am talking about.

I think back on my own journey and struggles with not feeling good enough.

It’s funny though. I have always spoken the words - I am self confident.

Looking back, I’m not sure that this was true. I just used different words. Because I know for sure that “self worth” or being good enough was an ongoing struggle.

You may have some things going on in your life that are creating the feeling of lack of confidence in you; feeling of unworthiness; of just not being good enough.

Over the years, I developed a little trick for dealing with those negative feelings. 

I’m sharing it with you, in case it helps you as well.

Instead of pushing so hard to “get rid of the feelings”; try this. Just sit with the feeling for a minute. Be willing to experience what that feeling “feels” like now. In this moment. When it is not really happening.

Vanity metrics are over and I am committed to working in small group workshops to move those forward who REALLY want to MOVE forward.

 

At some point, online, everything became about how big and how many you had in every sense of the word. Vanity metrics is that way of measuring perceived success based on # of followers, connections, friends, likes, shares, comments, email list size and so on.

 

Talk about a sense of “Social Shame” if you can’t keep up, right?

 

Have you ever shared something on social media and it’s like CRICKETS?

 

We all have. It happens. It’s no big deal. However, today,  unlike when I started online in 1999, there is so much more noise online.

 

Back then, we didn’t have Social Media, and we sure didn’t have all of the advertising and marketing messages bombarding us.

 

How do you get noticed? How are you going to stand out?

 

The days of “Spray and Pray” are OVER, sista! (Or, brotha!)

 

That does not by any means mean that social media is dead for building a business.

 

That just means you need a newer, better, more authentic and relationship oriented way to succeed online.

 

A few years back I read Michael Port’s book - Book Yourself Solid

 

His subtitle is - The fastest, easiest and most reliable system for getting more clients than you can handle even if you have marketing and selling.

 

And, who doesn’t hate marketing and selling? Right?

 

That is EXACTLY what I am doing with the Dream100 challenge - teaching you how to get in front of and gain the influence of those who are your tribe,  and the people who can use and care about your message.

 

You must build a foundation.

 

And we don’t do that by blasting people all day long on Social Media.

 

We must build trust and credibility. Same thing.

 

And, we must employ solid self promotion strategies that work and aren’t all about you, your product, service or business.

 

Here are the core principles to building your foundation -

 

Choose your ideal clients so you work with the right people, have more fun, make more money, help more people and enjoy your work.

 

Understand why people buy what you are selling!

 

Develop your own personal brand online and offline, so there is no mistaking who you are and what you stand for.

 

Position yourself correctly by knowing how to talk about your offer in a way that makes sense and is NOT confusing!

 

I want you to hear that again - the foundation -

 

Choose your ideal clients so you work with the right people, have more fun, make more money, help more people and enjoy your work.

 

Understand why people buy what you are selling!

Here are some things for you to ponder, unless you’ve totally decided that you are not committing at this time. In that case, hit delete and get busy with something else!

 

If you are still reading and still considering, here is my commitment to you -

 

YOU can do this.

 

And, I will be there to encourage you, and share my own experiences on how to do it.

Let this settle in for a minute - if we don’t live up to the goal we’ve set, we are going to feel like a failure. And that feeling is a place we are not willing to go, Goals - Why We Don't Set Them or Get Them…

I’ve been there. And, I get you. I know the struggle. And, I know the pain.

I’ll never be written up in the network marketing hall of fame. I was not a fast starter. I struggled with my negative mlm blueprint. I worried way too much about the opinion’s of others.

And, now, nearly 25 years later, those opinions don’t matter. I kept my friends, or at least the ones that mattered. And, I built a successful business.

Goals - Why We Don't Set Them or Get Them…

 

Questions:

What is the life you dream of living? What are you doing to pursue it? What are your challenges and obstacles? How will you know when you've achieved it? What have you learned about yourself?

Success is not just in the achievement of the goal; it’s in the pursuit of the goal. That is where growth occurs. And, growth is ALWAYS success.

Courage is not about the absence of fear. It’s about pushing through the fear.

How do you want to be a difference maker? Set a goal. 1 day, 90 days - and make them intentional goals.

I have missed my goals more than 80% of the time. At least the deadline that I had set to the goal.

I have a goal to walk 10,000 steps daily. My daily AVERAGE that is. Some days, I fall short, and at the end of the year, my App will show 10,000 for the daily average.

By the way - Average is for Sissies!

Who are you being? How do you see yourself? How does that create your identity for yourself?

Tony Robbins says-


“The strongest force in the whole human personality is this need to stay consistent with how we define ourselves”

 

Perfection is dangerous. But a strong vision is needed. Let go of labels that don’t serve you and create the ones that do!

 

Questions to move from Average

 

What do I complain about most often and repeatedly?

What do I dream about doing but don’t accomplish?

What have I been putting off and worrying about?

What ticks men off?

What situations, people and conversations am I avoiding?

Where am I putting up with pain and denying myself the pleasure of having what I really want?

What really matters?

Where am I losing out on time or money?

Where is my reputation or relationships jeopardized?

Where have I thought or shown up as average?

Social Media - it’s alluring, addicting, confusing and it's everywhere, right?

 

You might be asking yourself - how is it that some people are monetizing their time on social media?

In 1999, I took my business online and have sold products and services in over 40 countries and built direct sales teams in the tens of thousands!

And for 12 years I never left my home to do a business overview in my network marketing business, and I was the number 1 income earner in that company with over 75% of the company in my downline.

 

How did I do it? Using the tools of the internet, Social media and search.

 

Success is Sexy, and yet the Journey and the process that we take to get there is not so sexy and you can probably relate to that.

 

It's hard at times and very challenging.

Content is ba HUGE part of what we do on Social Media.

 

Take the time to build out your brand and content strategy.

 

Think of what you share, regarding your business, offline.

 

Online is much the same.

 

You have a 30 seconds or minute commercial about your business.

 

You may do a ten minute overview; exchange a business card - that is content.

 

Mirror your online efforts to your offline.

 

Update your profile every 6 months, making sure you remove things that no longer fit and add what does.

 

I want to tell you that your first impression is your profile and the About Me section.

 

The About Me section is the second most visited page of any site including social media.

 

Friends - EXPAND this as quickly, and in the right way, adding friends who might potentially partner with you in some way.

 

Engage with others to get more engagement yourself. That’s how the Facebook Algorithm works.

 

Content -  video is hot, because it creates a 3D approach to who you are. It’s like two friends having coffee. Let video become your friend.

 

For a long time 60% of my leads came in to me through my YouTube channel, now my podcast is kind of taking over from that, so between the two they're really really powerful.

 

Post 4 times a day - 7 a.m. 11 a.m. 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. A 12-hour window there and you can see if you can begin to see over time what type of Engagement that you're getting. Track for 90 days.

 

Create your Center of Influence, 100-250 people.

 

Get in and be active in Facebook Groups.

4 groups to focus on -

 

Business related; local; hobby or interest and your own that you start and run.

 

LinkedIn is a professional platform, and you can share a different type of content than you would on Facebook.

 

Not your dinner!

 

Showcase your skills and it's key in Search, google your name and it often shows your LinkedIn platform toward the top.

 

Make your profile very professional,

 

YouTube is big one of my favorite and is huge for search.

 

Big tool for branding yourself.

 

Social versus Search

 

Both important. Search is longevity and leverage.

 

Social is “right now” eyeballs.

 

Make part of your strategy Search related so people can find you WAY after you created the content.

 

This video leverages me because while it took 30 minutes to create and another 30 to edit and upload, it can work for me forever! People searching for social media tips can find this.

 

If I did this as a facebook live, it may last a day or two, but seldom does anyone go back 3 days or more on Social Media.

Entertain

 

Your content is a work of art on Social Media. Use it to bring people back to your blog.

 

Use Calls to Action, such as visit your blog, like or share.

 

Your blog is your Hub of the universe that's the one piece that you own. Your social media marketing efforts are to bring them back to that!

 

You want to drive them back somewhere where you can capture them as a lead and have someone to follow up with; to build that relationship with; to add to your database and get into your center of influence.

 

Plan your strategy.

Tomorrow never comes. We wait for everything to be perfect, and it just never will be. I’ve been doing a lot of Facebook Live lately, and I’ve let go of my desire for perfection with it. I no longer have to have the perfect makeup, hairstyle, clothing, earrings and so on.

In fact, I’ve been going live right after my hot, sweaty 4 mile desert walk. No makeup, baseball cap, and no fear!

I am a morning person and I get my set inspiration while on my walk. I plan much about my marketing strategy then. That’s what the note section of my phone is for

Okay, back to F word Friday.

 

Today, let’s look at that bad boy called - Failure. And, take it head on.

 

I want to share a story of my failure, and what happened to me as a result of it.

 

My Makeup Biz - everyone had huge expectations. After all, I had accomplished a LOT in the past, so surely I would with this too.

 

Ever try to fit a square peg in a round hole? That was me.

 

I was mad about something in my business, and I made a quick, rash decision.

 

I kept trying to convince myself that I could overcome my own values, and desires in a business.

 

And, one might look at that experience and say I “failed.”

 

But, not me. While I did not create the business or the income I thought I wanted from it, I did get in touch with and become reminded of who I really am, and what I am most passionate about.

 

I Love social media. I love teaching success language and how to really connect with people and build a center of influence.

 

I love being a coach and helping turn the light bulb on for others.

 

And I can not stand a bunch of products coming into my home every month, Doesn’t make that biz model bad, it just means it is not right for me and I know it!

 

I am a transformation coach; assisting others to transform from what they were; or think they were; to what they are capable of.

 

think of a time when you failed, and I mean really failed. What did you fail at. Put a name to it. What was it? and, what happened as a result of that?

 

How bad was it really? How have you recovered? The fact that you are hear listening tells me you probably recovered.

 

What did you learn from that experience? How have you grown? How are you better? Did you REALLY fail or did you have a growing experience?

 

Does the past equal the future?

 

What are you holding back from doing due to fear of failure? How is that stopping you from what you really want? If you DID “fail” what would be the worst that would happen?

 

What if you didn’t fail? What if you actually succeeded? What if the universe is lining up to give you what you most focus on? How might you shift your fear from that of failure to the expectancy of success?

 

How might you reframe the way you go into the experience as one of expectancy for success and a great learning, growing, expanding experience?

 

 

 

The most powerful thing I ever did for my business when I was struggling to get from zero to hero as to hire a coach. Someone who has been where I was, and has gone to where I want to go.

I just returned from a LONG road trip, moving my daughter and her boyfriend, along with Hendrix, the German Shepherd/Shar Pei dog to Nashville.

Along the way, I had plenty of time for thinking, since it was about 27 hours in a car, alone, with wide open skies and podcasts to grow through!

As I always like to reflect on how life and business are so parallel, I had some interesting insights along the way.

What are the big dreams you have set for your business and your life? Have you thought about how much money it will take for you to live the life of your dreams?

 

And, does the thought of all that might go into creating that ever wreck your self confidence and belief in making it actually happen?

 

We can look out in the distance and see that big end goal out there, all bright and shiny. But, we look at the space between where we are and where we want to go and it can be very daunting.

 

When I first started my business, I was taught to set goals - income goals mostly. And, the ones I saw other people setting were big money goals.

 

I set a big goal too, but quickly realized I had a problem.

 

I had not ever come close to earning that much in my life, and so I could say one thing, but my belief around it was another thing.

 

I clearly had a money belief problem, and you might too.

 

What kept me in the game was creating smaller goals, that felt achievable to me, and putting my focus there.

 

We tend to lose sight of the fact that what creates success with the small goals is also most often what creates success with the bigger goals.

 

so, let’s talk a bout creating some small, possibility goals and commit full out to those so we then reach our bigger end all be all do all goals!

The first thing I’m going to ask you for is a commitment. It’s what I do with my coaching and mastermind clients, and that is what creates results. It’s not wishing or hoping. It’s commitment and action.

 

Last week, I talked about Repetition being the key to mastery. Consistency is the key to repetition. They are kind of the same and you probably see a common thread.

 

The most common income goal set by my clients is a Six Figure Income, or $100,000.

 

Does that amount seem daunting to you? It can if you aren’t close to making that now. That was my problem.

 

What about breaking that down to $8,400 a month? Seem a little more reasonable?

 

And, what if we break that down to weekly? Which comes out to about $2100. Even more do-able, right?

 

So, If you can make $2k, then you can make $4k. And, if you can make $4k, then $8k seems possible, right?

 

And, for so many people, the first $10k is the HARDEST. The next $10k comes so much easier and more quickly.

 

I struggled to make my first $10k in my business. And, from there, it became much more fun and with joy!

 

Pretty soon, it grew so quickly that, at times, I felt like it was monopoly money. And, that is FUN money! Especially when it’s made by doing something I love and adding value in the lives of others. Watching the light bulb come on for my clients is the BEST ever!

 

The Gap between where you are and where you want to be can be a deal breaker. So let’s set a goal to get your to your first $2k, if you haven’t reached that. Or, whatever goal it is that fits for you. And, a deadline.

 

The deadline is important because if you have TOO long, there is a tendency is to procrastinate. Put it off for tomorrow. Does this describe you?

 

Now, looking at that goal - do you know the steps you’ll be taking to get you there?  Are you clear on that? And, are you ready to create that consistency chain to make it happen? Make those small steps.

 

And, what will that $2,000 or more do for you in your life? What would it do if it were a weekly amount? Do you realize that’s $104,000 a year and makes you a 6 figure income earner.

 

Once you figure out how to make $2,000 ONCE, you can figure out how to do it monthly. And, then weekly. And, then what about DAILY? Would that be fun?

 

Now, think about this - imagine making $2000 in your business one time. Seems possible, right?

 

And, if you shift that focus to $2,000 a day - how possible does that feel? Does that rattle your self confidence and belief at all?

 

It might and that’s okay. It’s not a right or wrong, it just is. And, we are going to work together with where you are RIGHT now. Open your mind a little and let me coax and coach you to expanding that vision and belief.

 

You are building your business in small, increments. Inches, dollars, or what ever you want to think it is.

 

Each connection you make with your audience - your ideal client - is an inch closer to where you want to be. What’s your goal with them? To make a sale; sign a client; sponsor a team member?

 

What do each of those inches look like for you? Go back to those steps that you’ll need to take to get where you want to go.

 

What steps are part of your consistency chain? How many inches will move your business closer to your goal?

 

Every small goal, every inch you accomplish; every connection and piece of value you contribute - all of these creates those massive bigger results.

 

You can make excuses - we all have. And, you can make money - which means letting go of those excuses.

 

Remember - when we focus too big, and too scary, we psyche ourselves out of possibility. Zero to Hero, or nothing to $100K is scary. And daunting. And soul sucking.

 

Focus on small, tangible, accomplishable and watch what happens.

 

Instead of saying - I know I should be doing more - say - I know EXACTLY what I need to do each day to hit that small target goal and then I move it up from there.

 

Focus on that one person, that one connection and not the MASSES like Social Media teaches you.

 

I know, strange coming from someone who teaches SocialMediaBackstagePAss.com, right? And, there is huge value in social media.

 

And, it’s quality and connection always, and not quantity.

 

And, let go of too much concern on the tech. Huge businesses are still grown one person at a time.

 

Facebook live, and ads, and stories and all that go into that do serve a time and a place. And, those are secondary to knowing how to set those small goals; developing the actions plan to get your there; putting your own consistency chain into motion and just being fully present to connect and add value to each person, one at a time.

Last Monday, on my family’s last day at my sister in law’s Lake House, I got up early to get my walk in for the day.

 

I don't know the area well, so I just set out on the winding country road, to sneak in 2 miles before we headed home from vacation. I had walked the day before and was fine.

 

In the early morning though, it’s clear some people just let their dog’s out with no leash. This is a pet peeve of mine, and here is why -

 

About 3/4 of a mile in, I was deeply involved in listening to a podcast when I caught the movement of a dog rapidly making its way toward me. Barking, snapping and looking anything but friendly.

 

I was seriously fearful he was going to bite me. But I powered on and focused on not allowing him to smell my fear.

 

When he finally eased up and dropped back, I started pondering my move to get home. I was going to have to turn around and walk back by him.

 

Call my husband.

 

Look for an alternative route.

 

Suck it up and turn around.

 

I decided to push past my fear and focus on everything being fine.

 

As I came within 20 feet of the house, I heard the sound of a big truck coming up behind me.

 

Trash truck, stopped right in front of the house, separating me from the dog and his sight of me. As the trash guys duped trash from the surrounding houses, I hurried on past and got out of range of the dog.

 

For me, this was a great testament to fear and faith.

 

In my business, as in yours perhaps, I have had and overcome many fears along the way. And, I have learned that False Evidence Appearing Real is true,

 

The dog had not bitten me. And, why should I think he would bite me the second time?

 

Why not have faith that my prayer would be answered and God would see me through, just like he has before.

 

What is a big fear you face in your business?  Success; failure; what other people think; putting yourself out on Social Media; being vulnerable; talking to someone; wondering who will listen to you and what do you have to share?

 

How might you muster the faith to believe the path and answer will be shown to you?

How many books did you read last year? Podcasts did you listen to? Programs did you buy? “Shelf Help.”

How many of those did you create mastery from? Do you know what true mastery is?

Malcolm Gladwell and the Outliers - the power in 10,000 hours. Or 10,000 anything.

The Beatles; Steve Jobs; Bill Gates; Wayne Gretsky; Michael Jordan;

“It is not the brightest who succeed,” Gladwell writes. “Nor is success simply the sum of the decisions and efforts we make on our own behalf. It is, rather, a gift. Outliers are those who have been given opportunities — and who have had the strength and presence of mind to seize them.”

So Bill Gates is introduced as a young computer programmer from Seattle whose brilliance and ambition outshine the brilliance and ambition of the thousands of other young programmers. But then Gladwell takes us back to Seattle, and we discover that Gates’s high school happened to have a computer club when almost no other high schools did. He then lucked into the opportunity to use the computers at the University of Washington, for hours on end. By the time he turned 20, he had spent well more than 10,000 hours as a programmer

 

“If there were 50 in the world, I’d be stunned,” Gates says. “I had a better exposure to software development at a young age than I think anyone did in that period of time, and all because of an incredibly lucky series of events.” Gates’s talent and drive were surely unusual. But Gladwell suggests that his opportunities may have been even more so.

 

What are the opportunities you’ve been given? Are you taking advantage of them?

 

Think about your business. What have you mastered in it? What skills that will get you where you need to go… Have you put in your 10,000 hours?

 

Now, you might be thinking - I’ve mastered procrastination. I’ve mastered going to seminars; listening to webinars; spray and pray on social media; I’ve mastered passive marketing; but not active prospecting;

Here are some things that repetition will help you master -

Developing Success language - knowing what to say that captivates instead of boring your audience. This is critical for sharing what you do; giving your infomercial at networking events; helping others know how to describe you so they can refer you.

 

Knowing how to share what you offer in a quick, effective way that creates interest to  learn more.

 

Understanding sales and how to sell, without being salesy.

 

Learning the personality types so you can have a meaningful conversation with anyone you meet in a way that attracts them and meets their needs.

 

Right now, think about your informercial. What do you say when people ask what you do?

 

Here is what I most often here -

 

I sell Real Estate

 

I work with the #1 skincare brand in North America.

 

I sell XYZ products.

 

I’m a distributor for XYZ company.

 

 

 

 

Entrepreneurs hire me to optimize their Social Media results because most are playing around on Facebook, invisible on LinkedIn, missing the mark on Instagram, and have absolutely no brand recognition online and offline. So I help them command profitable connections, communication and conversions.

 

Bottom line - if you are not online, converting connections to profits, you’ve got a problem. You wanna stop leaving money on the table, let's talk about how to convert to earn. If you’re not converting you’re not earning.

 

I also teach social selling, online and offline.

 

Entrepreneurs hire me to catapult their PROFITS because they’re struggling, sales are low and they don’t know how to connect with, follow up and close SALES with their prospects. And most of them don't even realize it. So I help them communicate with confidence and authority, online and offline, increasing their sales up to 300%.

 

Bottom line - they’ll ignite their TRUE selling power, get more sales and referrals by creating an “IT Factor” about their brand, offline and through Social Media, resulting in a lucrative business they love!

 

For Direct Sales - Network Marketers hire me to teach them exactly how to sell and sponsor because most have no idea how to talk to their friends without feeling or sounding salesy and turning people off; they have no idea how to share on Social Media without blatantly pitching their deal. And, they have no idea what to say. So, I have them develop “success Language” and a strategy that gets them the chance to share their business and products with just about anyone, online and offline and feel confident with what to say and how to follow up.

 

Bottom line - if you are not sponsoring and selling in your Direct Sales Business, you’ve got a problem. You wanna stop leaving money on the table, let's talk about how to build a successful Network Marketing business without losing your friends.

 

 

You’ve likely heard this before - One of the greatest predictors of the ability to succeed in life is persistence:“stick-to-it-ness” and it’s that attitude and personal culture and commitment that allows one to get through the inevitable challenges and obstacles that await us on the road to success.

 

When we take a closer look at what’s really happening during the journey to success,  we quickly realize that success is anything but a straight line. It’s more a like a windy road of twists, turns, ups and downs, and testing and trying.

 

It’s only when you become aware of all of those tangles and all the ups and down – it’s only when you can see what was really involved – that it becomes obvious what the real key to success really is. And that key is persistence; successful people don’t give up. They don’t view failure as a final curtain call; they view it as just another twist in the maze. They chalk it up to experience, learn whatever they can from it, and then they move on and try again. They don’t let fear, frustration, or wounded pride give them an excuse to quit.

 

Things to think about - where are you falling short? Where are you persistent? Where do you only take it half way? Where do you procrastinate?

 

If you were to write out a short, one page action plan of what you business requires for success, how does it line up with your calendar for the last few months?

 

I’ve spent a lot of time myself over the last few months evaluating my own business, from start to now; what’s worked and where I have struggled and why.

 

Consistency, laser focus and knowing what to say yes to, what to say no to, and what to take action on each day is key.

 

I’ve laid out my clear plan for the future and I am excited about it.

Get excited about your business. Get focused on what that business really is and who you serve! And get persistent with the right actions.

So, we will explore some of my favorite F words, on Friday’s, one of my favorite days of the week, and see if we might find some features about it that fit with you!

 

Today’s F word is my #1 value word - FUN!

 

If it’s not fun, I’m not doing it.

 

But, I didn't start out that way in my business.

 

Have fun in the journey! What the WHAT, seriously. I'll have fun when I’m making money.

 

I began to get it though. Relax, let go of the tight grip, have fun along the way. Enjoy the process, enjoy the people - ALL of them.

 

Enjoy your growth; your success and your “failures” reframe failure. Find the fun even in the failures. Build a story worth re-living, loving and sharing.

 

Give your business the fun factor test - Share the fun on Social Media. That gets way more engagement than your “poor me” give me sympathy posts.

Have fun offline - enjoy meeting new people and FINDING out the facts about them. Find them on Facebook and other social media sites and forge a more powerful connection.

 

Fit them into your daily plan and truly focus on caring for them.

 

Fantastic fortunes will be-fall you i so many ways. Finances, another favorite F word, will follow you along the path.

What? Facebook is shutting down it's Friends Lists, or Feeds? Yep, that's the rumor. Mine are already gone on my iPhone but still are on my desktop site.

And, what's the reason?

Is it Ad Revenue Loss when Facebook can't show you ads based on their specific algorithm that's stored for you?

You know you've been pixeled and re-targeted very often, but when you mess with the feed they want to show you, you mess with their ability to generate revenues!

Do they want to return Facebook back to the days of "Puppy Dogs, Family and Friends" sharing feel good stuff?

Well, maybe, if they can get an ad in edgeways, they do!

Let's face it - Facebook knows more about us than possibly we know about ourselves. They are a stats and demographics generating MACHINE!

We've all turned quite a bit of info over to them over the years in terms of our likes, interests and who we engage with.

And, based on that, they have a profile on you. They return ads to you based on that "profile."

Yikes. And right now, while a lot of distrust is out there regarding Facebook and privacy issues, do we really want them having more?

Be smart on Social, Always!

Build your hub of the universe (blog and list) and never rely on a platform you don't own (remember MySpace) to be your business hub.

Build your Center of Influence and nurture and cultivate those relationships. Take it offline. Send personal cards and notes.

Use the local search bar to grow your friends to those you can meet locally and invite to workshops, networking events, coffee and so on.

Use video, take selfies and give people what they want to see in you! They will become interested when you do it right!

While I am considered a 20%er today, reading he book; interviewing the authors and re-listening to the podcast, as well as sharing it with my own team and clients has really caused me to do some deep reflection on consistency, and where I have succeeded and fallen short in my business.

 

My reflection has led me back to the realization and confirmation that what it takes to be successful is just committing to the act of being consistent.

 

So when I say “YOU” in this experience, know that I am talking about myself, too.

 

It’s not massive action; the perfect script or the “right” people that make a business successful.

 

It’s YOU and me; and the action steps that we take day in and day out.

 

If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you may be familiar with my Favorite F words branding.

 

This came from attending a Brendon Burchard Expert's Academy Event.

 

I use these F words to measure things that matter in my life -

 

F Word Friday

 

Faith, Family and Friends, Fitness, Finance, FUN

 

Fun is truly my top value. If it’s not fun, I’m not doing it.

 

So, when I started reflecting on my consistency, I used these words to rate myself.

 

Fun - yes, plenty, especially this summer as I shared at the beginning.

 

Faith - yes, I feel I have been pretty consistent there too.

 

Fitness - I have had some goals, and one is 10,000 steps as a daily average for the year. I’m currently at 8800, so I am picking my pace up to finish strong. That’s about 4 miles a day. I’ve been on the Plant Paradox/Paleo/Keto type of food regimen for a while, and I could use more focus and discipline.

 

Family and Friends - check check

 

Which brings me to finance and while it’s not bad, I look at my goals and my vision for my business and realize I am not really where I want to be, and I now know the reason WHY -

 

CONSISTENCY - the last 5 years has had me a bit all over the map in terms of true focus.

 

Multi passionate Entrepreneur

 

Coaching, Social Media Training and Workshops  Direct Sales

 

Which website - my brand

 

Speaking training Masterminds

 

I have had so many people ask - What is it you do, exactly? And I always laugh, and struggle a little to tell them

 

At the end of the day - I am a business and Social Media Coach, Trainer, Mentor and Strategist. But, which word is the best?

 

Have you come up with your own title? Do you have your elevator pitch or infomercial down?

 

More on that in a future podcast.

 

So, let’s get into consistency. and, what that looks like for success.

 

I’ve said before - Success is Sexy; the steps to get there are often not.

 

You have to get really clear about what your business is; what you offer, and the steps you must take to get it out there and make sales or close deals.

 

People have often expressed a desire to come spend a day with me. And I always assure them they would be bored.

 

And, yet, for some, the lightbulb moment would occur when they realize there is nothing special of fancy about what I do.

 

With Social Media, it has all been about consistency -

 

First the site/blog; a weekly article; posting in forums; commenting and answering questions. Being real, authentic and showing interest and caring.

 

Get your own agenda out of the way.

 

Become a story teller. I’ll be sharing a lot more on this in a coming podcast.

 

When my business thrives, I can look back in my calendar and in my Social Media activity and see one common thread - consistency.

 

When my business has floundered, I can look back in my calendar and in my social media activity and see one common thread - lack of consistency.

 

For most of us, in our solopreneur business, we need to be doing a few things ongoing -

 

Finding people to add to our database. This means more than just plopping in names. It means meeting, engaging, building rapport and the start of a relationship; connecting on Social Media and expanding the relationship.

 

Learning as much as I can about them; learning how I might be supportive and then opening the door to share my business and product offerings.

 

Not just for them, but also for anyone they may feel comfortable referring my way.

 

IT’s about building that really solid Top 100 COI. It’s follow up; and follow through; adding value in person, through direct mail; through Social Media and in ways that matter to them and make them feel special; appreciated; like more than a number.

 

So I’ve come up with my own acronym for how I run my business and what’s important in it -

 

BAMF - check the urban dictionary for another definition. I might start using the hashtag, just saying

 

Branding

Audience

Marketing

Follow Up

 

So, each day and each week I have to look at what I’m doing in each of these areas to be successful.

 

What areas have you defined for your business?

 

Here are some steps to take to be more consistent -

 

Get clear. Get focused. And, by that, I mean even on TODAY.

 

Today. Write down something you can do each day to move your business forward. Just one thing. And, make a commitment to do it TODAY

 

It’s about letting go of tomorrow and focusing ONLY on today and the top priority for you today, in your business.

 

IT’s about building that consistency chain and being committed to not breaking it.

 

Get a calendar and each day that you take that one action, write it on the calendar and begin to build that consistency chain for yourself.

Your Business Development Action Plan

As I mentioned on the last two shows, I recently ran a survey to see what your most challenging things are in your business. And, the number one thing was having a business action plan so that you have a roadmap in place of what to do each day.

Success is sexy, the system to build the business is not always sexy! We struggle with figuring out what that daily plan of action should be to move us forward.

Every business, whether it’s Direct Sales and Network Marketing, Real Estate, Party Plan, Insurance, coaching or ANY business needs - clients and customers, leads and prospects, referral partners and ambassadors!

We most all start with our warm market and let them know we have started a business. We let them know about our products, our services and even our business opportunity if we are in a network marketing business.

We want to use good success language when we contact and notify those we know.

http://StreetSmartNetworker.com gets into the specifics of how to build your database and notify people of what you do. Develop that solid “elevator pitch” and good success language to entice others to want to know more.

Avoid the tendency to just talk at people.

Here are some steps to take -

Take a Personal Inventory and know your hobbies, interests, likes, passions, products.
Do a SWOT Analysis - what are your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats?
Then, develop your system and plan to contact your database and stay top of mind.
Develop your follow up plan - I call this the F word in business. Most business people fail at follow up.
What is your plan to expand your database on a daily and weekly basis?

There are offline and online ways to do this.

Offline - there is lifestyling such as kids events; church. any extra curricular activities.

Online, we have Social Media, Search, Content and paid advertising.

Focus on really building and developing that Core Center of Influence.

Online, develop a content plan and strategy. Pick a theme for each month and then break that down by week.

This will help you with what you will share on Facebook; Facebook Live; YouTube Videos; Instagram; Blog posts and more.

Avoid the tendency to take a “spray and pray” approach to your business.

Instead be VERY intentional with what you share.
