You’re Listening to the Street Smart Wealth Podcast, show 224 and on today’s show we are going to cover the concept of how to actually treat your direct sales business like a job, instead of a hobby. What are the steps you’ll need to take to move yourself forward? We’ll cover that! Need some coaching to move you forward? My one on one and inner circle programs are LIVE! Are you looking for coaching to be successful in your Network Marketing business? Want to also learn how to generate your own leads online? My Inner Circle Coaching Program may be just what you need. Treat Your Direct Sales Business Like a Job Today’s notes on how to be more focused in your Network Marketing business. Decide now - are you building your direct sales business on a serious level, as a professional, or are you a hobbyist? Gary Vaynerchuk, author of the book Crush It sums it up so well in his book - Passion is everything! How badly do you want to crush it? Is it an all consuming feeling? Do you stay awake at night, your brain swimming with ideas and dreams? Are you willing to do whatever it takes for the chance to live entirely on your own terms? Gary’s 3 rules - #1 - Love Your Family #2 - Work super hard #3 Live your passion There are no excuses, unless you are willing to be mediocre in your business. Is that you? Does that fit your model of direct sales? Shower, Suit Up, Show Up, just like you would a job. Take Action. Get prepared mentally and physically. Develop your business skills. Do it scared! I just sponsored a runner in my business, Vickie. I’ve known her since 4th grade. What is a runner? She’s your dream team partner. She wants it bad. She’s coachable and she said - tell me what to do. And, then she has done it. She has our next month calendar jam packed! She’s following the system and no where along the way - not once - has she said - why are we doing it that way? She’s making videos and she is doing it scared! Work on your skills. Practice, Drill Rehearse! Don’t spend too much time getting ready to get ready! Get prepared mentally and physically. You’re Listening to the Street Smart Wealth Podcast, show 223 and we are continuing in our book club series with Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway, by Susan Jeffers. Fear and The No Lose Model We’ve been reviewing Susan Jeffer’s Book - Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway this month. Here are the notes from today’s show: One of our biggest fears is just making decisions. We’ve been taught to “Be Careful!” We panic at the thought of making mistakes. When you think about your decision in Direct Sales, it’s a no lose model, if you just get into action, develop your business skills and don’t quit. Do your homework on what needs to be done. Establish your priorities. Trust your gut instinct. Lighten UP! Action is the key to your success. Say yes and know that you can handle it. Watch for those signs from the Universe that lead you the right direction. Really, it’s not so bad. You can handle more than you think! I LOVE and appreciate reviews! You’re Listening to the Street Smart Wealth Podcast, show 222 and today I am answering a question that many people probably have, submitted by Dan and sam, and they ask - is it possible, or advisable to Build Two Direct Sales Businesses. Oh boy, we are going to have some fun with this question. Need some coaching to move you forward? My one on one and inner circle programs are LIVE! Are you looking for coaching to be successful in your Network Marketing business? Want to also learn how to generate your own leads online? My Inner Circle Coaching Program may be just what you need. Or, maybe it's one on one coaching. Learn more about both at StreetSmartWealth.com/coach Check the podcast archives on the blog at JackieUlmer.com for previous episodes if you missed any or are new to the show. Is It Possible to Build Two Direct Sales Businesses Here is what Dan and Sam submitted - I have a question which I don't think anyone I know is qualified to answer. I know you have touched on this in one of your posts a while back. Its regarding running two network marketing businesses side by side. I seem to remember you saying that its fine as long as the products don't clash and ours certainly don't. Our first company is services and the second one we want to start is product based and we feel more passionate about the product based then we ever have done with the services. Our main concern is prospecting people and not knowing which way to send them! Seems we may be making life more complicated than it needs to be. What are your views on running two? Do you think its possible or would you recommend that we just stick to one? Oh boy, have you ever wondered this? I have and I’ve been on both sides of it. Here are the notes from today’s show and the things you want to consider and listen for - What are your goals? Retail sales? Replace an Income? Leadership? Recognition? I’ve only ever really see this work well in Party Plan, with a retail focus. Remember this - your main product is your OPPORTUNITY - so which are you going to offer? You are thwarting your efforts when those who may be watching you, trying to decide on joining you see offering yet another thing. Trust becomes an issue, with your team, your prospects and your upline Company Policy - starting and as you progress. Conventions and Travel - will you attend both? Autoships and Quotas You are modeling for others all of the time. Finally, Social Media - are you going to share openly about two businesses? It’s hard enough to build one, much less tow. What are your thoughts on the topic? I LOVE and appreciate reviews! Go to JackieUlmer.com/itunes or JackieUlmer.com/stitcher to leave your review and be entered into a drawing for a free month of coaching. You’re Listening to the Street Smart Wealth Podcast, show 221and we are continuing in our book club series with Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway, by Susan Jeffers. In today’s show, we will cover the role of Victim, taking responsibility, payoffs that keep us stuck, figuring out what you want and then acting on it, 7 ways to reclaim your power and some exercises and tools for success! Fear and Moving Past It In the the first part of the book, and Show 219, we covered Fears, truths about fear, moving from pain to power and more. So, here are the notes from today’s show: Are you playing “victim” or taking responsibility? Do you know what responsibility means? Beyond taking care of yourself? You can’y control always what happens IN life but you can control how you experience and react to what happens. Taking responsibility means: Never blaming another for anything you are doing, being, having or feeling. Not blaming yourself - stuff happens sometimes, and there is just no one to blame. Being aware of when you are NOT taking responsibility so you can shift that. Handling your own chatterbox, and inner critic and self talk! Being aware of “payoffs” and how they keep you stuck. Figuring out what you want in life and then acting on it. Being aware that you have many choices in any given situation. Some exercises you may choose to do - List the payoffs that keep you stuck in any situation. How does this allow you to not face certain things? What do you not have to do? Be aware of all options you have throughout the day. Use a notebook to journal about things that happen and the options you have for feeling about it and acting on it. Pay attention to what you say in conversations with others. Do you complain or gossip? What gifts have you received from situations that you might have looked at as bad at the time they occurred? Go one week without being critical or gossiping about anyone else. Even to yourself! Some people may call you a Pollyanna for your positive viewpoint. Oh well! Use a morning routine to reinforce your positive changes. Record an MP3 of your affirmations, your visualizations; write them out; take a photo and store on your smartphone to review at least twice daily. You’ve got this! I LOVE and appreciate reviews! Go to JackieUlmer.com/itunes or JackieUlmer.com/stitcher to leave your review and be entered into a drawing for a free month of coaching. Couple of things - First, we are well into our Book of the Month, and it’s Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway. Click for details.
Second, our Book for Next Month is Go Pro, by Eric Worre. Get it here.
It’s a must read, and read again, and teach your team kind of book.
I will have the rest of the books for the year out shortly. Just trying to track down and confirm some that I want to use and to make sure they still fit.
Your Direct Sales Marketing Plan
It’s called Network and Marketing, and Direct Sales for a reason.
Network - that is your working inventory. Your list of potential candidates for your network marketing business. Finding people to talk to about your business and products.
Then, there is Work - part of the word, because it does take work.
And, then there is Marketing - opening your mouth and getting the word out about your business.
The definition of marketing is - According to Mashable, Marketing is the way companies interact with consumers to create relationships that are beneficial to both parties.
Advertising is a form of marketing communication used to promote or sell something, usually a business's product or service.
So, what is your marketing plan for your Network Marketing business?
I spent time looking back at my planner from last year and seeing what worked and what didn’t, and that allowed me to figure out a focus for this next year.
4 ways to find contacts -
Warm Market Contact List - many people object to this, and that’s crazy. Offline Networking Buying Leads Mall Walking - or lifestyle marketing.
Today, we also have social media which is a bit of a mix of all of these. Now, your goal is to expand outside of your center of influence as quickly as possible, and you can do that by making that contact list, and then reaching out and saying -
I’m excited about a new venture, and it’s probably not for you, and I get that. However, you know some people who this might be perfect for so I would just love to share it with you to see if you know anyone for whom it might be a fit.

You can’t build the successful business you want on the back of your friends and family, only. You need a network beyond that and each person you know easily has 250 people right off the top of their head that they could put on a list and potentially contact, or introduce you to.
Ask for referrals, Take the awkwardness out of the situation by leading with this.
Getting out into the community you live in is a great way to quickly expand your network. Lead with your product first, in this environment, though.
Some things to determine in your Direct Sales Marketing Plan -
Make your contact list. Go through your Social Media contact list. What opportunities are there for you offline, locally?
Marketing budget - how much do you have and will you invest in your business to market it? Time budget - be realistic as to what you will commit to. For me, I’m not going to drive 30 minutes once a week for a networking event. But, I am committed to networking events, I just need to find the right ones. Commitment - how committed will you be to whatever steps you take to expand your marketing? When you get involved in an offline networking group, you MUST get involved and get consistent. Joining is not enough, just like your business.
What I say in my elevator pitch -
Hi, I’m Jackie Ulmer with FunFabLashes.com and I create fun, and confidence with my 3D Mascara, taking your lashes from zero to hero. Come check out my eyes to see the difference. Also, ladies, if you are tired of your lip color falling off into your breakfast, our lip stains will blow you away! Jackie Ulmer, FunFabLashes.com
It’s not uncommon for me to get mobbed when the meeting is over, by the women, and the men who want to buy for their wives, girlfriends, and I sell product at almost every event!
So, write down what you would say and then look at it - is it over hyped at all? Is it too salesy? How will it be perceived by those who might be a fit for it?
Then, get committed to developing your business skills. Starting with your communication skills, and then connecting with others, and networking with others.

You’re Listening to the Street Smart Wealth Podcast, show 219 and welcome to the fabulous new year, 2016! As I have mentioned, we are starting a book of the month for the next 12 months. We are starting with Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway, by Susan Jeffers. Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway I love this book, and it is timeless. Let’s face it, fear is probably the #1 thing that holds most of us back in our Direct Sales business. So, what if we make a slight shift in how we SEE and handle fear? And, the story we make up about it? What are your fears? Be honest, take an inventory and write them down. We are going to re-educate our minds to shift from thinking that we must overcome FEAR, and realize that fear is a fact of life, and NOT a barrier to our success. When you take a chance, and get bold, and take steps despite your fears, you begin to change the way you experience fear, and the hold that it has on you. 3 Levels of Fear Level 1 - facts of life fears and action fears Fact of life fears are things like aging, children leaving home, death and dying, natural disasters. They are things that happen, and are often inevitable and out of our control. Action fears are those things we must take action on in order to experience - rejection, success, failure, disapproval, loss of self image. We must DO something in order to actually experience this fear as a reality, and not just think it will happen. Level 3 fear is one thing - I Can’t Handle it! And, when you break it down, all fears come down to this ONE thing - I can’t handle it! I can’t handle it rejection! I can’t handle it death of a loved one! I can’t handle it if someone says something negative about me and Direct Sales! Who knows why we stop trusting ourselves, but often we do. Let’s just change that from here going forward. New Mantra - Whatever happens to me, in any situation, I can handle it! IF we wait for our fears to go away before we take action, we will never advance, because fear does not go away, necessarily. 5 Truths About Fears Truth #1 - The Fear will never go away, even as I am growing and moving forward. Truth #2 - The only way to get rid of the fear of something is to just go out and do it! Truth #3 The only way to feel better about myself is to go out and do it! Truth #4 - Not only will I experience fear whenever I do something outside of my comfort zone, so does everyone else! Truth #5 - Pushing through fear is less frightening than living with the underlying fear that come from feeling helpless! Shifting from Pain to Power Fear is not the problem. How we feel and hold onto fear is. Shift your self talk. Change - I can’t to I won’t Change - I should to I could Change - it’s not my fault to I take responsibility Change - life’s a struggle to life’s an adventure Change - it’s terrible to it’s a learning experience Rate each fear on a scale of 1 to 10 and work to move toward a 10 each day. Each day, do something that you once viewed as scary, or risky. Take small baby steps and see how you feel! I LOVE and appreciate reviews!
