Some Advice for Your Direct Sales Journey

 

Develop an Attitude! An unshakable attitude that you are headed straight to the top in your Direct Sales business, 

 

The reality is, in the beginning, it’s a lot of work and a lot of time. In the beginning, you will work a lot, for little pay. Stay consistent and over time, that scale will shift dramatically.

 

Be faithful to your dreams, and to do this, you must be clear on your why. You will have set backs and disappointment but when your why is strong, you’ll be able to pick yourself up and get back in the game.

 

Get clear on your time and action commitment and make sure the time you have allocated matches with your goals. This must be in alignment. It’s not the lottery.

 

Hang out with successful people. This is where Network Marketing events and your convention are so important.

 

Make personal development a part of your every day plan. I listen to 3-4 hours daily in the form of YouTube videos, podcasts, and reading. I have something going in the background almost all of the time.

 

Don’t allow any obstacle to deter you from your end goal! Never quit on a bad day. 

 

Sell more than just your direct sales products, always sell your opportunity, too. Let people know about the income side of things! You just never know!

 

Don’t get distracted by bright shiny objects. Success is all about getting your products and opportunity in front of people. PERIOD! 

 

Practice, Drill and Rehearse. KNOW what you are going to say, develop those business skills. Practice in the mirror, this is how you will become a master.

 

Set your priorities for each day and get them into your calendar. Just 3 big ones!

 

Set challenging but attainable goals! Allow yourself to be stretched just a little!

Skill #6 is a very important one, and that is - Helping Your New Distributor Get Started Right

 

First, the real job starts once the sign up. It’s not in the sign up process itself. The task is not completed when they join, it’s when they get started!

 

Don’t be afraid to reach out and make contact. Don’t worry about buyer’s remorse. 

 

Create a 30 day success story. Help them earn their investment back. Help them have success, sell some products, develop a customer base and have a story to share when people ask -

 

Well, how’s the business going for you?

 

They can always reply - Well, let me tell you about my first 30 days… Schedule a time to go through a Game Plan Interview.

 

What’s in the Game Plan Interview? Congratulating them on their decision. Setting their expectations right - some will, some won’t, oh well.

 

Go through your own list of questions to find out their goals, their reason why, their commitment, the calendar, what’s their plan to get first customers and distributors?

 

Make sure they know how to navigate their back office, as well as place an order, sign up a customer and sign up a new team partner.

 

Explain available tools and how to use them.

 

Skill #7 - Promote events

 

The best way to promote events is to be attending events yourself.

 

Get them signed up for your company convention.

 

Find out any local events going on, too.

 

Events are life changing. My first company convention changed my life!

 

From there, promote the event each week!

How to Get Yourself Started in Network Marketing

 

Well, sad but true, the day you join your network marketing business is not always the day you start.

 

Sometimes, we sit around waiting for the started kit to come, then we play with the products, and that is all great, but those are not income producing activities.

 

4 Beliefs For Network Marketing Success

 

Your Mindset and Belief for Network Marketing Your Belief in your Network Marketing Company Your Belief in your Network Marketing Company’s Products Your Belief in Yourself!

 

Let’s start with Your Mindset and Belief for Network Marketing. As you may recall, I struggled with this in my business. I had a very negative blue print regarding direct sales, and it was not based on anything factual. I overcame this, with time, and surrounding myself with those successful in Network Marketing. I could see these were great people, and I wanted to be among those ranks!

 

So, you must get comfortable with your decision to be involved, as a career choice, in Network Marketing and Direct Sales.

 

I share some of the facts around why many women Party Plan don’t like to consider themselves in Network Marketing and why the general public is often more receptive to buying from party plan companies vs network marketing companies. And, how the retail price point of the products offered make a difference. Are they comparable with similar products out in the market place? This will be important to your prospective customer and while we can easily SAY that our products are better, how do we get this point across to the consumer?

 

Your Belief in your Network Marketing Company

 

Are you confident you are leaning your ladder against a wall that is viable for your career in Network Marketing? As long as you are, it is full speed ahead. Don’t worry about little blips in the road, these happen in every company.

 

Your Belief in your Network Marketing Company’s Products

 

Do you have a solid belief here and are you fully confident sharing your products with your friends, family and those you encounter?

 

Your Belief in Yourself!

 

Ouch! This is the critical piece. Get clear and work on your mindset and belief in yourself, ALWAYS!

 

Okay, so once you are good to go with all of those, let’s talk about how to launch and success.

 

Some ideas to consider:

 

Be careful who you listen to and who you allow to coach you.

 

Invest in your starter kit and begin to replace EVERY product you use that your company offers with your company line. You can’t sell, for the long haul, what you don’t own, and have experienced. Do you have to use every product? Not always. Sometimes there are reasons not to.

 

Get some basic product knowledge, BUT, don’t go overboard. You’ll get a few basic questions repeatedly, so know the answer to those, but beyond that, know where to find answers such as ingredient lists, and so on. The best way to get product knowledge is to USE those products yourself.

 

Be able to share the unique benefits; how they are used; and your favorite products.

 

Begin to recommend your products to others and check into sampling, if available for your company.

 

Be willing to get creative if you need to find a way to sample/demo your products.

 

Make your 100 names list and keep adding to it. Don’t roll your eyes - just DO it!

 

From that list, you have all kinds of ways to contact them - home party/demo; text, phone call, Facebook message - what ever works for you, just do it.

Then, always be prepared with the next steps - some will not be interested, but more importantly, some WILL be interested. And always remember that some who say no now, will circle back around!

 

Rejection - yes, you can be disappointed but never feel rejected. There is no such thing! It’s just a decision they have made for their life situation!

2 More Skills to Go Pro in Your Network Marketing Business 

 

As we continue to study and master Go Pro, be Eric Worre, let’s talk about the next 2 skills you must master. In the last show, we talked about Making and Adding to Your List, Contacting and Inviting That List, and How to Present the Business to Your List.

 

Now, let’s get to skills 4 and 5

 

#4 - Follow Up - this is one area where so many in Direct Sales do drop the ball. We tend to want to make the argument - they have my information, they have seen the business, if they are interested, they will call me!

 

Not true. You will be amazed at how your business will grow if you just ASK people to join you!

 

So follow up typically consists of seeing what questions or objections they have; answering these and then asking them if they are ready to get started. 

 

Understand the power in follow up and that sales statistics show that an average of 4-6 exposures it what it takes to get someone to the decision point. That’s okay. Do your job, do your best and your business will consistently be growing as people come into the funnel, and fall out through the funnel and onto your team.

#5 - Help Your Prospect Get Signed Up as a Customer or Team Partner

 

What you don’t want to do, if at all possible is just give them the link and say “Go for it!” Instead, get online with them, even if over the phone.  Give them the website and walk them through where to click, what to enter, what their options are, and so on. Give them the royal treatment and VALUE them as a customer or team partner. Make them feel values, special and in good hands! Ask them to join and be prepared for them to say YES, and to get them signed up properly.

How to Stay Consistent in Building Your Direct Sales Business

 

Notes From Today’s Show:

 

I want to share 5 concepts with you that can make a huge difference to the growth and success of your network marketing business.

 

#1 - Why - yes, I know, you’ve heard it said over and over again, and it’s true. Your WHY will be the most compelling reason that you will take action and stay focused and consistent in building your Network Marketing business!

 

#2 - Pick ONE thing - and master it. Yes, you may have many areas that you wish to improve in building your business - contacting, follow up, leading a team, and there may be others. However, in order to set yourself up for success, puck just ONE thing and focus there until you master that, and then move on to the next one. You already know what matters most - so get focused and go!

 

#3 - Schedule Your Priorities - most people do this in reverse. They make a to do list, and then sort and prioritize that list. Instead, decide what your top 3 priorities are for the day for growing your business and schedule this in to your calendar. Then, start your to do list and put those 3 things at the top. Get those done as quickly as you can, early in the day.

 

#4 - Ignore your feelings? What? I know, this is NOT what you typically hear from me. But, in this case, the idea is to power right through fear, procrastination and that small, often loud voice that may try to talk you out of doing what you need to do. Just go ahead - do it scared.

 

#5 - Get Back Up When You Fall - yes, we are looking for consistency and action. However, most of us have those times where we fall short. When this happens, you have a choice, Throw in the towel all together and just give up. Or, stand up, dust yourself off, have a stern talk with yourself and then get back in the saddle by taking the right action as quickly as you can!

 

“Success doesn’t come from the occasional thing, it comes from consistency.”

3 Skills to Go Pro in Direct Sales

 

Notes From Today’s Show:

 

Skill #1 - Build Your Prospect List

 

It’s critical to start with those people who you know. This is called your active candidate list. From here, you will expand outside of your warm market, but don’t make the mistake of discounting the power in your warm market.

 

Your goal is not to sponsor or sell, necessarily, but rather to just get your opportunity in front of others, and see if it’s a fit, and generate referrals.

 

Add to this list as you are out and about, meeting and networking with others.

 

And, do it scared. When you have fear, it’s easy to think you have no one to talk to, but this is a myth you’ve made up in your own mind. It’s important to write this list out, and get these names out of your head. As you look over the list, it will jog your memory to come up with others who they know - so that’s a question you want to ask as you look at each name on your list.

 

I have a goal of always putting myself out in front of others and sharing what I do, to see who THEY know who they might connect me with.

 

Network on Purpose and get out there and meet some people. Volunteer, join a new hobby group, go to seminars.

 

Skill #2 - Invite Your List to Learn More About Your Opportunity

 

You don’t have to have a major set of skills already to get people to take a look; just learning some good Success Language will take you far.

 

Your goal is not to pitch your opportunity, it’s simply to ask them to take a look by reviewing it via a third party tool. Not YOU sharing all of the details.

 

When you are the one sharing, your prospects think they must do that too, and it clouds the process. your goal is not to dazzle them with your knowledge. Just be your self, Be authentic.

 

And, you HAVE to detach from the outcome. This is simply a MUST DO!

 

As we learned in the last show, we must be willing to accept a temporary loss of esteem by those who are ignorant.

 

Steps to Invite in Direct Sales

 

Be in a hurry Give a compliment Make the invitation If I, would You Get time commitment on a yes Confirm time commitment Confirm a follow up time Get off the phone!!!

 

There is the direct and the indirect approach, so choose what best fits you and your relationship to your prospect.

 

Skill #3 - Presenting the Direct Sales Opportunity to Your Prospect

 

What’s the third party tool you will use? You should already know because you used the “If I, Would YOU” question.

 

Imagine the power in duplication when you, and your team can simply share a tool and create the type of looks and eyeballs on the opportunity that you need and want.

 

Learn to tell your story in a way that is powerful, but doesn’t give the whole presentation. Stories sell, facts just tell!

Sharing Vs Selling on Facebook in Direct Sales

 

Biggest mistake most people make - they join a company and then put out some spammy post on Facebook about your great new company, how we’re all going to get rich, JOIN MY TEAM and more.

 

You are turning off your perfect audience when you do this because most people see that and think - I would never want to do that.

 

Now, does that mean you never share about your business on Social Media? Of course not.

 

But here is how you do it - you share photos, testimonials and experiences in a way that creates interest, and NEVER share your link on the status update. You want people to come to you.

 

I generated 3 sales through one simple photo last week that showed my product and the results I had personally experienced.

 

Another mistake is to take just your company graphics and photos and using those to “advertise!”

 

No one comes to Facebook to be advertised to. You aren’t Lexus! 

 

You want to share, authentically, and excitedly, without hype.

 

I was recently in a conversation with a small group of Direct Sales reps who all agreed on one particular, well known company being so spammy and ad oriented that it was a total turn off.

 

Screaming BUY FROM ME and JOIN MY TEAM does nothing to provide value for your audience. People want to know - What’s In It For Me - is the question everyone is asking when they are considering joining a business.

 

Share in the same way that you would about the Denver Broncos going to the Super Bowl. Raw enthusiasm will create interest over promotion every day.

 

Think about how you can share in a way that will fill a need that your prospect has, both with products and the business.

 

Remember the 80/20 rule - 80% being fun, social, entertaining and only 20% being business related without being an advertising mess!

Go Pro - We Have a Better Way

One thing I love about this book and Eric Worre’s style is his authenticity and openness about the mistakes he made getting started and the growth he experienced from that.

 

As he says - Network Marketing isn’t perfect, but we do have a better way.

 

Do you treat your business like a business? Honestly?

 

Think about what drives most people to start a network marketing business. It’s usually a list of things they want less of in their lives, and then combined with things they want more of.

 

Less:

 

Boss Commute Office Politics Alarm Clocks

 

More:

 

Income Time Freedom Meaningful Work Positivity

 

There is a catch to network marketing though -

 

You must accept a temporary loss of esteem from ignorant people.

 

He advises - if you are going to get involved in Network Marketing, decide to become a professional.

 

There are posers, amateurs and professionals, and sometimes we go through all stages!

 

That saying that “Ignorance on Fire is Better Than Knowledge on Ice” is only partially true. Make a commitment to develop your business skills for success.

 

Every skill needed to succeed in Network Marketing can be learned and mastered.

 

Malcolm Gladwell talks about it in his book - The Outliers

 

Every Network Marketing professional has three things in common:

 

The Products The Compensation Plan And the Distributor Him/Herself

 

YOU are the only variable in your company. So, if there are challenges, look within first.
