Your Listening to the Street Smart Wealth Podcast, show 123
On today’s show, let’s get you ready to close out this year and welcome in the coming year. prepared to make it the best yet!
Success is by design, not by accident!
Do you have specific things you do to close out and get ready?
Happiness, gratitude and even success are a choice. A choice WE make. A great way to launch your new year is to close out the old, and set some powerful patterns and intentions to move you forward.
The end of the year is a perfect time to do this. I like to close out the year in a very scheduled, specific way. I actually block time on my calendar to do this in a very thoughtful, organized and HONEST way.
I love doing a good end of year close out, to acknowledge, appreciate, adjust and anticipate. This releases me from any leftover baggage from what I "didn't do" and allows me to acknowledge and appreciate myself for what I did do.
Tweet me your thoughts and opinions @jackieulmer and let’s connect!
If you are ready to stop talking and start succeeding, consider my inner circle coaching program, go to -
Also, last year’s show during this time of year is a great one to listen to, as I did things a little different.
It’s so good this time of year to -
Review Reflect Not so much Resolutions, if those don’t do well for you.
Here are some steps to make this happen -
1. Plan the time. Take a break, getaway, go to the coffee shop, but get out of your normal space and routine. Get this done before the new year or within the first week if at all possible.
2. Focus and meditate, or pray, depending on how you seek guidance and wisdom. It’s different for many, and there is no right or wrong.
3. Start with gratitude. Sometimes this is challenging, but we all can find some things to be deeply grateful for. It’s easy to focus on what we want that we DON’T have, but try focusing on what you want that you already have and want to keep.
Who are the 5 people closest to you, and why are you grateful for them? What do you appreciate about them?
What do you appreciate about the work that you do? Your home business? How you earn a living?
What do you appreciate about the space you live in, and the area you live in? Even if you feel frustrated and want to relocate, find the gratitude about it NOW and you’ll get where you want to be faster.
What gifts and talents will you acknowledge yourself for? What special skills do you have? We all have them; feel comfortable acknowledging your strengths.
4. Let’s reflect back on the year/time we are closing out. Sometimes we hesitate to want to do this, wanting to just slam the door shut. But, like gratitude, there is good there, and we must find it so we can create more.
What are 3 great things that showed up in your life this past year? They don’t have to be huge, but something meaningful that you see as a gift.
What are 3 things you were striving for but fell short of achieving this year?
Why? Be honest here. Just let it flow and release it. No harshness or judgement, just raw honesty.
Do you see any recurring themes; good or bad? Things that may keep you stuck?
What do you feel is “missing” from your life?
What might you do to add it into your life in this coming year?
What would I list as my disappointments and regrets from the past year?
Was I in control of these?
What will I do to change what I can for the next year?
What accomplishments am I most proud of for the previous year?
Did I have any major “Life’s Lessons” that I learned from and can draw wisdom from for the future?
Say a silent prayer; see yourself putting the ending year in a box, wrapping it up in gold paper, tying a beautiful red bow on it, placing it in your hand and then blowing it off into the atmosphere.
Wish it well and thank it for it’s treasures. Even the challenges are treasures.
5. Now, it’s time to plan for the future.
Consider choosing a word or theme that describes what you want for the year. Make a list of words that might fit what you want to accomplish. Choose your word thoughtfully, so you can wrap the rest of your life and business planning around it.
Let’s say you choose leadership - think about the word carefully.
How will this fit into your business plan?
Weave it into your scripting and success language - I’m working on my leadership skills and…..
Weave it into your online content, using that theme as a dominant part of what you put out to the world.
What events might you attend that will expand on growing your leadership?
What products might you create around this theme that can better monetize your business and create leads?
Do you see where choosing your word carefully is key?
6. Ask yourself - what do I need to create the change I want in my life and business this next year?
What steps will I take to get what I need?
What is holding me back and are these true limitations or self imposed limitations?
What am I ready to release and be done with for this next year?
7. Set up your calendar for success. Consider your word or theme; available time; goals for the new year and so on.
Blogging - write it down. Social Media Plan - write it down. Marketing - write it down. Income producing activities - write it down. Events - write them down.
Do weekly planning on Sunday and a recap on Saturday. Avoid thinking of your business as just Mon-Fri. Stretch yourself and stretch out your week, and don’t make excuses because it’s the weekend. That’s all changed in today’s world.
8. Get those close to you involved - family, significant others, team leaders even. Ask for support, ask for accountability; and let them know you are serious…if you are serious.
9. Be all in. Yesterday is over and tomorrow is really just a promisory note. There are no guarantees. Work each day as if it is the turning point for all that you want, and it just may be!

ACTION STEPS

Get committed, get all in.

Make a list of everything you want to learn and expand on this next year and then get it on your calendar and DO IT!

It’s the holidays and I LOVE this time of year. It offers HOPE, BELIEF and that overall sense of well being if one can just sink into the feelings that the season evokes, regardless of what religion you celebrate.
Focus on the light, the love, and the blessings that all of us have access to.
So, on today’s show, I’m doing things quite a bit differently than normal but hey, that’s the benefit of running the show, right?
I want to share with you my Favorite Things, done up a little differently.
I hope you enjoy. Tweet me if you do - @jackieulmer
Now, here is how the real song goes….
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens Brown paper packages tied up with strings These are a few of my favorite things
And, here is my best of home business version…
Play when I want to and sleep in til ten Residual paychecks, no boss who says When Brown paper packages delivering bling These are a few of my favorite things….
Leadership, mentoring, while serving others A business that let’s me focus on mothers Downlines that soar with hope on their wings These are a few of my favorite things….
VIP dinners in black velvet sashes Working together making those dashes Creating incomes that ring with Ka-chings These are a few of my favorite things….
When I hear no When the wait stings When I'm feeling sad I simply remember my favorite things And then I don't feel so bad
Having your own business is amazing, it’s indescribable and more than anything, it is possible.
If anyone can do it, you can, too.
We all have those times we hear no, we feel bad, we feel sad…we wonder if the wait will ever be over.
And, then, we get to that VIP dinner, we walk across stage, and most of all, we help and support others; and mothers who long to be home with their children.
And, that makes it all worth it, and then I don’t feel so bad!
Merry Christmas; Happy Holidays!
Stay tuned for the next show where we focus on getting your plan down to make the coming year your best one ever.

Is There Luck in Network Marketing
There are numerous factors involved with becoming successful at network marketing, and one of them is tough work, another being dedication. What many of us fail to get is that network marketing is a job your business – it’s not a hobby. To be successful you must commit yourself to your business and work methodically toward your targets.
On today’s show, lets talk more about luck and how to create it!
Welcome to the show. At the recent Go Pro event in Las Vegas, a question was asked - is there luck in Network Marketing.
What do you think?
Tweet me your thoughts and opinions @jackieulmer and let’s connect!
If you are ready to stop talking and start succeeding, consider my inner circle coaching program, go to -
A big part of moving from the thought of luck to it really just being business skills involves success language, which we will cover in a moment.
The best resource I have on this is StreetSmartScripts.com and here is Holly from Australia's Testimonial on the product -
Testimonial for StreetSmartScripts.com from Holly in Australia
Thanks Holly, I am so glad you have uncovered some blocks and are making steps to get better. That’s really the trick!
Does Network Marketing success involve Luck?
We create our own luck through the actions we take.
We might see someone who has built a successful business; maybe they recruited the top real estate agent in their town, and that person is building a huge business. We might say - gosh, how lucky.
But, let’s think about luck. That “luck” was created when that person stepped outside the comfort zone and contacted, invited and presented.
So, what is lucky about that? I’m sure that person heard no plenty.
What are your daily, weekly and monthly targets? Do you know? Are they written down? How are you going to create luck?
Success in Network Marketing is not about -
Age Education - yes, business skills are important but these are developed along the way Background Income levels
Success requires a system - everyone needs that and you have a proven one already.
Now, timing is another thing. There is something to be said about timing.
Right time, right place and right mindset to take action!
Opportunity must meet preparedness.
You catch someone with a big center of influence when their timing was right. Are you lucky? No, you are ready and in action, creating your own luck then.
Don't become a statistic of the times. In bad times, people join. In good times, people join. Fact is, I became a distributor when I did because I was scared.
Not because I might make millions of dollars, but I sure hoped I would.
Along the way I developed a deep respect for the profession and what I had my hands on. With a way of doing business that deeply aligned with my values.
Those of us who are lucky work like this - We get up every morning and we go to work.
That is the required discipline. Consistency on a regular basis. Have a strong work ethic. You get paid based on that work ethic. PERIOD. What you have done before does not matter. It’s what you do in THIS business that will pay yuo.
Always be on the lookout for others with a strong work ethic. Have a clear identity of yourself as a pro. I'm a recruiter, I'm good at it and getting better all of the time.
A recruiter goes out to search the best in the land to build a winning team. I'm looking for those people who desire what I have to offer.
How do you feel about what you do? What's your professional identity and how do you feel about that identity? Get clear on your thoughts around network marketing.
Have a big picture. Share the big picture.
Invite people to step into the big picture. Explain the full potential of the pay plan. Know how to explain the basics. Not everything, you’ll overwhelm people.
Lay out the marketing model and share how to get the numbers on the page. That is all that matters, numbers on the page, which includes -
Numbers on your list
Numbers you have contacted; invited; shared with; shown; followed up with; sponsored; trained and started.
It’s not the money. It’s what the money in the pay plan takes care of.
Shared by a speaker at the Go Pro event -
1989 started a Monday night call with 5 people, now 500-800 on call. Mon morn call is for leadership
4 fundamentals
Self responsibility - if you want the results you must accept the responsibility
Self determination - passion do what needs to be done to get the results. What's your dmo? The consistency of that won't let you down. Self motivation - too many depend on outside motivators. Results motivate.
Self functioning - at what level do you function?
You are in control of the outcome.
Stay in a prosperous, positive, productive state
Then, luck will be yours!
ACTION STEPS
What “lucky steps” are you taking daily?
Have you made and contacted your lucky list? Your million dollar list?
Are you prepared when opportunity shows up, even disguised?
Are you sharing the big picture so others can create some luck, too?

Developing Your Online Business Brand
In my inner circle coaching program, we go through a pretty extensive exercise on identifying your exact target audience and avatar for your business. It’s not - Just everyone - like we tend to think offline.
Yes, it’s true that anyone MIGHT be right, the more you can niche it down and get clear, the better results you will have.
Part of this process involves your brand, and while this can be a bit over done these days, it is important.
On today’s show, lets talk more about your brand and how to develop it.
Welcome to the show. I am just traveling home today from a fabulous trip to New York City with my daughter for the Radio City Rockets Christmas Spectacular show, theater, shopping, a visit to the newly opened World Trade Center and museum and great food and fun!
So, as we discuss branding, I just want to note that part of my brand and mission is building a lifestyle business, from anywhere, as a mom.
I love that my business has given me the freedom, flexibility and income to take great trips and share these with my family.
If you have comments or questions, tweet them to me @jackieulmer and let’s connect!
We cover all of this in depth in my inner circle coaching program, so if you are ready to stop talking about it, and start taking action on it, go to -
I also have a blog guide that walks you through getting your blog set up and how to create ongoing content and the whole philosophy behind the blogging process.
http://JackieUlmer.com/blogguide
Listen for a question Satinder asks, about blogging on the podcast -
Developing Your Online Business Brand
We are going to cover a very important piece of the whole online marketing puzzle and that is Building Your Brand, Defining Your Niche and knowing how to provide solutions based on this.
And, how to handle it when you feel like you aren’t quite an expert and who will listen to you!
Now, I know that branding and niche have become slightly over used buzz words online, but that doesn’t make them less relevant. In today's online market, you must establish this first so you know the direction you are going to go with everything else.
Direct Sales online involves a strategic approach since we are attracting prospects to us, instead of approaching the whole world. Because people are going to be coming to us, you want to make sure you are "out there" where people can and will find you.
And, here is the bottom line - you have to set yourself apart from all the other people out there who are trying to find and attract prospects for their business.
We all have a brand already - who you are; your image; your impression; what others say about you; describe you; what is the image people conjure up when they think of you? You are “packaged” in a particular way, and it can be tweaked. You may be known in your “offline space” around a specific profession, and you want to convey a different message around your business passion; what you are building.
It’s how you dress; your values; what you share on social media; your character and ethics; belief systems and such.
This goes a long way toward getting people to “Know, Like and Trust” you.
Is your perception in the marketplace what you want it to be? Does it attract the audience you want to attract?
Question - I have a hard time defining my brand?
Let’s break it down and demystify it!
Steps to determining your personal brand
Step 1: Take personal inventory - become self aware - what do I want to be known for? What do I bring to the table? How do I want to serve people? How do I want people to think of me and describe me?
Step 2: What is it that makes you memorable and makes you stand out - if you get bogged down here, ask some people close to you and some who are in business with. What are those things you want to be known for? Me - WAHM, family first; travel; social media coach.
Step 3: Think of other personal brands that you relate to - Rachael Ray - not professionally trained; Street Smart; launched a lot of different projects based on her cooking background - Food Network; Cook Books; talk show; empowering women - that’s me, moving beyond network marketing team builder.
Step 4: Asking yourself what your IMAGE says about you - what group do you identify with? Who do you want to help? Who do you seek to serve? Does your image convey this? Do your status updates share this? Does your image share this? Your photos
Step 5: Be able to identify with a particular group - who do you fit with? Align with? Feel like they are soul mates, almost - sharing your values and ideals.
Step 6: Write out how YOU would describe your personal brand - write it out exactly how you want it to be, and then work to live up to any parts that don’t quite fit yet. It’s not about fake it til you make it, but more about fine tuning who you want to BE! Nothing wrong with that. Use adjectives - cutting edge; entrepreneur; down to earth; always fun and up for a good time; patient;
In the inner circle coaching program, we have several modules on this process to help you identify your audience very clearly, as well as where they are online, so you can reach them with your message and solutions and how to incorporate this into the SEO of your blog, and the content you create.
Another part of identifying your brand is answering the question - “what is it you are actually promoting?”
If you answered with something regarding your product, you are only partially right, and you may want to think again. At least, in your online efforts.
Building online is a little different from building offline.
I am very clear and laser focused on the fact that I promote two things -
Freedom and the system to achieve it!
Freedom encompasses a lot. It offers time, money, less stress, potential for better health, potential for higher quality relationships, personal satisfaction of achievement and knowing that others are being helped in the process.
It's a total win-win!
My particular product line and company, combined with Network Marketing and the Internet is the "fleet" of vehicles I use to work from home and earn an income.
Once you identify your target markets, you'll have an easier time online with where to go and what to do.
These are a few of my target markets and how I have approached them. Come up with some of your own.
I am a mother of (not so small anymore) children. This offers me a big, general market. So, it has to be narrowed from there. When I first joined Network Marketing, I thought young mothers at home would be a natural market. I quickly learned that many of them have no desire to have a business of their own. So, I am looking for mothers of young children who DO want to work from home.
So, I began looking for sites online that were geared toward this market.
I found and established a presence at a specific work-at-home-mom site.
When I first found this site, they had a handful of message boards and chats for work at home moms in all different areas. But, there was nothing specifically devoted to Network Marketing.
So, I wrote the site owner, suggesting a board and a chat and I volunteered to host both.
This, as it turns out, has been one of the smartest moves I made initially online. I didn't know where it would go, but I knew that anytime you "lead" something, you establish yourself as an expert in the eyes of many.
This led to the publishing of my first e-book, and launched me into the e-book publishing world. This provides its own source of leads for my business!
Another target market of mine is frustrated Network Marketers. People that understand and love the concept, but are looking for more than what they are currently getting.
Maybe it's the wrong company, wrong upline or wrong system, but if they are committed to the concept and being coachable, I want to talk to them.
So, I frequent several sites/message forums devoted to MLM.
I don't set out to recruit others. I just offer advice, answer questions and generate discussions. I publish articles at these sites and I am always subtly promoting my business and system through a link to my website. And, this is allowed by the forums, as part of your signature line.
I don't ever advertise on these forums; I just answers questions and provide training and business building ideas. This begins to develop my brand as an "expert."
And, another passion of mine is cooking. So, I find communities online devoted to this topic and get involved. My profile and signature files always contain a link to my personal site.
Movie reviews are another great place to meet people online. Do you love music? Most of the social networking sites (more on this later) out there today have large areas devoted to music reviews and bands. Get involved and meet people.
After all, the Internet is all about creating warm market in a different way. I have made some great friends through the Internet. Some are now business partners and some are just good friends. And many of them, I have never met.
Think about your target markets. Write them down and get out in the search engines and online looking for a few.
I’m not an expert -
First, don’t say you are. Share that you are on a journey! An expert only knows just slightly more. Share your journey; share the good, bad and ugly. Share your hopes, dreams, and goals. Be an inspirer instead of an expert. What makes the person YOU follow an expert?
ACTION STEPS
What words do people use to describe you? What do they say about you when talking to another?
Does this fit the persona you have presented online? Your blog and theme behind it - do they fit?
Does your social media actions clearly deliver the message of your brand?
What steps can you take to make everything align?

Do Your Friends and Family Run When They See You Coming
My good friend Martha Finney, co author of Best, Worst, First in Network Marketing recently asked this question of me as someone she knows is struggling with this.
What to do when your warm market run when they see you coming, and I am guessing this is because they don’t want to hear about your network marketing business.
In today’s show, let’s chat about some reasons why this might be happening, and steps you can take to correct it, and prevent it in the future.
If you have comments or questions, tweet them to me @jackieulmer and let’s connect!
Are you ready to take your business to the next level - great more prosperity and generate more people to talk to and sign ups in your business? Maybe it’s time to join my inner circle group coaching on Network Marketing success and how to build your business and create your own leads online.
Do Your Friends and Family Run When They See You Coming
Is there help for someone who lives in a very small rural community and says people laugh at him when they see him coming?
It’s not the size of the community; it’s something else that has happened. In this case, there is a church community involved and so it can begin to feel like saturation is involved.
Good Success Language - avoid hype, medical or income claims.
Are you selling or sharing? Are you solutions focused and asking good questions? Think about what you say and how it lands on another’s ears.
Use third party and be non attached.
How many people REALLY are we talking about who we feel are avoiding us? It could be more made up than real. And, we are allowing this to derail us from our end goal.
How have we been with our warm market and contacts in the past - are we givers or takers?
Take time to rectify the situation.
Have honest communication. Be bold, if you feel someone reacting this way - open some dialogue. Hey Joe, I sense that you are avoiding me and I just wanted to clear the air. Is something bothering you? Let’s talk about it.
This can help you jump huge hurdles.
How do you feel about Network Marketing, really? Are you proud, or fearful and ashamed?
Are you open to coaching? Most of us have “been there, done that” and want to help.
How committed are you to staying stuck, or achieving your goals?
Ultimately - feelings drive thoughts, which drive actions and that creates our results.
Bad feelings = no actions and no results.
Good committed feelings = massive action, in the right way and good results.
ACTION STEPS
Look at your relationship with your social and warm market contacts.
Spend some time developing your success language - StreetSmartScripts.com
Use the third party approach.
Be a go giver and open lines of communication.
Be proud of our profession.
Accept coaching and help!

Your Listening to the Street Smart Wealth Podcast, show 118
Do you ever feel challenged in your business - have those things that come up that you just don’t feel you can solve?
Often, these come down to things like -
I’m worried everyone will say no. No one wants to listen to me.
And so on, those things we make up.
In today’s show, let’s chat about some steps you can take to solve any problem or challenge in your home business.
INTRO
If you have comments or questions, tweet them to me @jackieulmer and let’s connect!
Are you ready to take your business to the next level - great more prosperity and generate more people to talk to and sign ups in your business? Maybe it’s time to join my inner circle group coaching on Network Marketing success and how to build your business and create your own leads online.
How to Solve Any Problem in Network Marketing
There is no problem you can’t solve, no challenge you can’t overcome.
So, let’s pick a problem and think about it. Put it in your mind’s eye, place it in the palm of your hand. And, remember - it’s never the problem that is the real problem - it;s how we think about the problem.
We aren’t focused on thinking about the solution to the problem. So let’s shift to the focus of - how do we solve this problem? I like to focus on the solution instead of spending a lot of time explaining the problem and talking about the problem or even making excuses about the problem.
When I do one on one coaching I get those who want to go on and on about the problem instead of giving it to me in one or two short concise sentences and then shifting our focus to the solution.
So, again, think about your problem. Notice the way you’re thinking about it. How do you feel? What emotions does it bring up? Is it helpful or is it not helpful? The second thing is are you focused on the problem over and over and over again or have you put your mind to work on the solution? Step 1 - determine what is fact and what is fiction.
What you want to do is take any issue in your life and separate the facts from the thoughts. Because there is a difference.
Step 2 - Figure out what you really want.
Step 3 - Evaluate what you’re doing when it comes to your problems. First, are you taking action? Second, are you reacting?
Step 4 - LifePlay book scripts - scripts we all make up about ourselves and others, and how we relate together. We have these beliefs around how we run our lives and beliefs around how we think other people should act and relate to us, or run their lives. The life play book is basically a mental “how to” book that you have written, at least in your mind, for those around you. We all tend to have expectations of others and how they should behave and quite frankly, we get a little frustrated when they don’t act according to plan.
Step 5 - Define who is really in charge of you. When you have thoughts like, “People can hurt my feelings when they say no.” you are not being in charge of you. Step 6 - Deciphering the difference between what you want - the future you dream about? Or your current reality and past?
Ok, so hopefully you feel empowered to solve any problem just by working through it step by step.
ACTION STEPS

Your Listening to the Street Smart Wealth Podcast, show 116
At a recent holiday gathering, a few of us were talking about our journey in Direct Sales and Network Marketing, and one friend of mine expressed her dislike of babysitting people and having to spend so much time getting to the heart of their why.
It made me start thinking - how much time and responsibility should we, as the sponsor and upline, spend on this?
If someone is serious, isn’t it pretty clear?
Let’s chat about that in today’s show.
The holiday season is here and people are busy, busy, busy. So thank you for listening in as you may be walking, shopping, cooking, wrapping gifts or even listening to this after the holidays.
How Important is WHY in your business
1. No one had to ever remind me.
2. There was nothing my sponsor, upline or anyone could have done to make me move faster.
3. Someone who is serious should easily be able to tell you WHY they are building a business.
4. It must be compelling to get one going and out of procrastination mode.
5. Do we really need to spend as much time on this in our network marketing business?
6. A simple check in with your calendar will shout out your true commitment to your why.
ACTION STEPS
Define your own why.
Share it with your sponsor and others who will hold you accountability.
Look at your calendar - does it reflect a serious commitment to your why?

My good friends Margie Aliprandi and Martha Finney published a book last year called Best, Worst and First - everything you need to know to build the business of your dreams.
They selected 75 network marketing experts to share their thoughts and experiences and on today’s show, I’m going to highlight some very helpful concepts.
And, shameless plug - I was honored to be included.
Thanks for joining me for today’s show, and I hope you’ll find some value here. If you have comments or questions, tweet them to me @jackieulmer and let’s connect!
My inner circle group coaching on Network Marketing success and how to build your business and create your own leads online is alive and well.
Best Worst and First in Network Marketing
I am going to highlight a few of the leaders and chapters that jumped out at me -
Chris Cucchiara
Dana Collins
Kimmy Everett
Kirk Gillespie
Justin Harrison
So, those are a few for today. I’ll be sharing others over the next few months.
Be sure to get the book and check the show notes for the link.
ACTION STEPS
Get the book - http://JackieUlmer.com/bwf and use it as a daily motivation, reading a 3 page chapter daily.
Use ideas from the content for blog articles and social media sharing.
Pick a mentor or two from the leaders and follow them. That doesn’t mean you change companies - just learn from what they share. I did that for years with Jan Ruhe. Never partnered with her in a company but followed her relentlessly.
Best Worst First Book - 75 Network Marketing Leaders Share Their Insights
MLM Nuts and Bolts - Jan Ruhe - how a mom went from zero to hero - this book changed my business. It's work out and I have the cassettes, and CDs, too!

Marina Lemas - I really enjoyed your interview podcast with the couple in Singapore talking about GenY embracing network marketing as a career. More important than their age or location was the fact that they each have built a business in their own way, using tactics that work for them. This is a great reminder that there is more than one way to succeed in network marketing. Thank you, Jackie, for continuing to deliver meaningful content for all of us to learn from, stay focused, and move forward.
