Facebook and Your Business Page for Direct Sales

We’re in business, right, so why not have a Facebook business page, too, right? Here is why a business Facebook page is so important. Not to be techie, but Facebook is basically a closed system that is not indexed by Google. Facebook Business pages ARE indexed by Google, though. This just basically means that people can find your Facebook business timeline in Google!

It’s publicly searchable and you get “google juice” based on the content you have created. An active page on Facebook will translate to rankings on Google.

Someone doing some specific keyword searching on Google could land on your page. This is especially true with events!

You have 3 opportunities to connect with people - your friends, your followers and your business page followers.

Here are some things we know about the Business Arena for Facebook:

It’s a Pay to Play environment.

It takes WORK to grow a successful Facebook page. And, I mean WORK. Every day. I’m going to be honest here - that is why I put SO much more time and energy into my blog and building my list. I own it and I control what happens with it.

Every time I send an email to my list, I know that I have the CHANCE that everyone on that list will open it. Not everyone will, that’s the reality. But, at least they can.

With Facebook, they make it very clear that they will NOT be showing my content to everyone unless I pay for it, and even then, I am competing with all of their friends, and other content.

Here is what happens when you make a status update on your business page. Facebook chooses a small segment of your fans to show it to first, and there is a small window of opportunity for it to organically get more reach. In that small time frame, if there is no engagement, Facebook kills it. If there is some engagement, they open it to a wider audience, but still small when it’s organic. And, great engagement gets a little more.

You need to take time to identify your Target Audience for your Facebook page - what are they looking for a solution to?

You want to define that solution and then develop a content strategy around that, and be consistent.
