Go into the groups and pages of these events on Facebook, LinkedIn and Meetup.com and find the movers and shakers. These are the ones who plan, speak and network at these events.

 

Meet people live, and then find and friend them on Social Media.

 

Upload and tag photos with people in Attendance.

 

Support their businesses as much as possible.

 

Meet with people in one on one type coffee meetings so you can share even more about your business, including your opportunity details.

 

Make sure you create a solid power profile so people can click back to learn more about you, and then click to your blog.

Understanding Why You Are Stuck and How To Get Unstuck

 

 

Since I started sharing my recent journey of change, I have talked and coached with at least a dozen people who are feeling stuck and unhappy for one reason or another.

 

So, here is my disclaimer - if you are listening and we had a phone conversation, a coaching session or an email exchange about this, I am NOT talking about you and your story.

 

And, at the same time, know this - you are not alone.

 

How this often shows up is -

 

Business stops growing.

You procrastinate.

You believe there aren’t any motivated people any more.

You stop sponsoring people.

You become indifferent and frustrated.

You might even feel hostile about your company.

 

 

There is a much deeper issue.

 

And, by defaulting to the above statements, you are saying - other people have power over me and I can’t have what I want because they are stronger than me.

 

It seems to be about unmotivated people, but really it’s about your lack of belief….in something.

 

 

Products, company or management - something.

 

Maybe you feel like you've climbed the ladder of success and found that it was leaned against the wrong wall. I've been there. Built with that turned out to be the wrong company.

 

But, there are no mistakes. There really aren’t. 

 

We are all on a journey, and we don’t know the path when we start. It’s full of starts, stops and twists and turns. The path can feel very painful at times.

 

Money, loss of income, friendships, others counting on us, what will people say and so on - it can be even worse in the network marketing “box” than corporate America.

 

You must slow down to hear the voice of God, which is ALWAYS there, speaking to you. If you can’t quiet your own voice, you won’t hear it.

 

My own story - things kept being placed in my path. Even 3 years ago.

Companies sending me products to demo.

 

Those things were God, or spirit speaking to me, but I had a challenge getting my ego out of the way so I could hear. 

 

What I mean by ego.

 

Passion vs Routine - what might that feel like?

 

Where will life lead me when I have a passion and I follow it?

 

What if you are being guided to serve an audience that needs and wants you? What if you are playing small to remain stuck where you are?

 

What’s the lesson for you in all of it?

 

What’s the cost? What’s the payoff?

 

The cost is in not being truly happy and following your values and passion.

 

The payoff might be not having to get back in the game and build again; of not having to tell your sponsor, or team, or whatever.

 

We never want to do something that creates more of a loss than a gain, but there are perceived payoffs and real costs that must be examined.

 

You are often losing more than you are gaining by staying stuck. 

 

More often than fear of failure, we have a fear of success, and so we continue to attract people into our business who are not really interested or ready.  When you think about it - we attract that because WE are not truly interested or ready.

 

Question - what action or behavior is leaving you feeling stuck, frustrated and unfulfilled?

 

What do you perceive the payoff to be?

 

What is the cost?

 

These are REALLY heavy questions.

 

Now, what if you chose a different action or behavior - how would that feel?

 

What would that payoff be?

 

And the cost?

 

There is a concept of IT and NOT IT.

 

It experiences align with our joy, our values and passions.

 

NOT IT experiences grate against us, deplete us, frustrate us.

 

So, right now, what is the NOT IT experience for you?

 

What might the IT experience look like? If you find yourself thinking - I don’t know - go deeper. If you DID know, what would that be?

 

These can be tough question to ask, but if you will be honest with yourself, you know the answers.

 

You serve no one, least of all you, by choosing to stay stuck. And, that’s what it is - a choice.

 

I know, I hear it - the paycheck, the company, the team - it’s all still a choice and you know for yourself how to choose it and not it, to best align with where you want to be.

 

No one else is choosing for you.

 

Actions Steps

 

Where are you feeling stuck

 

Why is it NOT IT

 

What would be it

 

What action do you commit to in order to create the change you want

 

What will that feel like?

10 Tips for Networking Event Success!

 

1. Arrive early.

2. Dress For Success.

3. Have business cards.

4. Have your elevator pitch and networking conversation practiced and ready.

5. Be interested in others.

6. Be product focused to begin with and don't pitch the opportunity.

7. Stay late.

8. Follow up with those you meet.

9. Commit and be there regularly.

10.Understand that it is a long term commitment.

1. Find Networking events such as the Chamber of Commerce, BNI, Referral Network and other type of events.

 

2. Visit several and decide what will be a fit.

 

3. Develop your elevator pitch.

 

4. Develop your stategy for showcasing your products.

How to Use Company Incentives, Trips and Contests to Grow Your Direct Sales Business

 

Company Incentives

 

Many party plan companies offer this as do some network marketing companies. Are there sign up specials, product specials, product launches ongoing with your company?

 

Pay attention to the incentives that your company offers as you can use these in a powerful way:

 

It gets the field PAID, and generating sales and customers. Teach someone how to get their money back right away with their own customer retailing. Leading with the product is often much easier!

 

It provides social proof.

 

Company incentives also give you a great way to follow up with people you may have shared your business with before who weren’t interested at the time. Emphasis on TIME. Timing changes for people all of the time so reach out.

I’m calling you BECAUSE

 

“The company is offering….”

 

“I’m expanding my business in your area…”

 

“We have some special incentives to help new team partners into profit quickly…”

 

 

Give your team ideas how to use incentives to reach out to people for new contacts, follow ups, past contacts and their own retail sales.

 

Use these also at offline events because people are watching you, and paying attention, even if they don’t show YOU this. When you speak at networking events, giving your 30 second commercial, share those incentives.

 

Leading with the product is the best way to go when you are at a networking event, and then you can be sure your share the opportunity on the back end.

 

 

Company Incentive Trips

 

What trip does your company offer? Learn the qualification and say -

 

“Hey, how would you like to (Cruise to Jamaica with me in the fall….)”

 

“Have you ever been to Rome…?”

 

Start the conversation in an easy way like those above and then share what you are working on with your company.

 

Drip the details of any trips on your team on a weekly basis. Keep them thinking about it and working toward it.

 

Break the trip down from the BIG amount that needs to be done and share what a monthly, then weekly, then daily plan would need to look like to achieve that.

 

Your Own Incentives

 

You can always piggy back your own incentives on to anything your company offers.

 

If there are retail sales goals, let your team know that anyone who makes the goal goes into a drawing for a $100 Gift Card; or whatever fits for you. Make sure that you aren’t going into debt to get there, but making it a wash can be okay. You are reinvesting back into your business when you first start for sure.

 

Also, on company trip incentives, you can always add a free hotel night the night before, or after the trip, for those who qualify. Perhaps a drawing, like the gift card. Or, maybe you are going to take everyone who qualifies on the team out to a special dinner the night before.

 

This can also happen at company convention, too!

 

People love recognition, they love travel, fun, bling and so on! Get people excited and involved.

 

Pay attention to any incentives your upline is offering, too.

 

 

 

 

 

ACTION STEPS


Get dialed into company emails, programs and incentives. Trips?

 

Figure out the system you will use to offer these to your team.

 

What incentives, if any, is your upline offering?

 

Figure out any incentives you are also going to offer.

Building Rapport with Your Direct Sales Prospects and Team


Getting into rapport with your prospects is one of the single best skills you can learn and develop to get your prospects interested in at least taking a look at your business and what you do.

 

I just got back meeting with my mastermind group and we did a powerful exercise on validation and sharing with another person what you see and appreciate in them.

 

It is powerful to build rapport and acknowledge others for what you see in them.

 

A mistake we often make when we start in Direct Sales is blindly calling everyone without developing a solid plan for what we are going to say -

 

I’m calling you BECAUSE…

“We did business together a few years back….”

 

“You know a lot of people….”

 

Give a sincere compliment. Who doesn’t feel good after a compliment and feel compelled to listen to you. It captures their attention.

 

People get so little recognition and so few compliments today for the job they are doing.

 

Make your approach not just about YOU, but also them, and most importantly them.

 

Facebook has been my lead generation of choice for the last 2 months and I have used rapport to rebuild connections and relationships with people, convert them to leads and sign ups!

 

Validation

 

This is great for team building at events, meetings and so on.

 

Validate people’s feelings and where they are coming from. Don’t be quick to just shoot back with a reason why their objection is not valid.

 

When people feel heard and understood, they are more likely to open up and communicate more freely.

 

Validation exercise with your team -

 

Everyone puts their name in a hat and one at a time, a name is drawn, and then everyone else goes offers words, phrases and descriptions to share how they see this person.

 

IT is so powerful to allow another to see themselves through the lens that others see them through.

 

All this flows into branding yourself and what others say to describe you!

 

Powerful Team Bonding exercise.

Ask a few people what they see in you; how would they describe you?

 

Reach out to 3-5 people and make their day by just acknowledging what you see and admire in them.

 

Plan this exercise for your next team gathering.

Tools for Direct Sales Success

 

We've covered how to get prepared and really LAUNCH your Direct Sales business, vs just JOIN, which is nothing more than becoming a customer with the ability to earn an income referring others.

 

LAUNCHING is what creates success.

 

So, let's cover the tools you'll need to maximize your 90 day blitz to success.

 

There are several different types, and some of these will vary based on your company and you'll know what these are -

 

How do you share the business with someone once they are interested? You don't want to try and explain this yourself - it overwhelms and confuses them. Tools do the "heavy lifting!" You want your prospect to be saying - "I can do this!"

 

Product Tools - what are you selling/marketing? You'll want to have and use (at least once!) all of the products your company offers. Sometimes, there is a starter kit that has everything, but often there is a basic kit; a kit with a little more, and so on. Whatever the case, you may need to order above and beyond the kit, if it doesn't contain everything!

 

Be a product of the product and replace EVERYTHING in your home with products offered by your company.  Some products you may have never used before but try them anyway as you never know what you'll find!

 

The last thing you want is for a prospect to ask about a product and you have not yet ordered or tried it! Yikes, that does not breed confidence.

 

Sharing and Opportunity Tools

 

How will you explain the business you are in to others, once they are interested?

 

Is it a video? A website? A conference call? Know and use the tools that have proven successful for others.

 

Sometimes the product itself is your strongest tool so share samples and don't be afraid to make retail sales along the way!

 

Training Tools

 

How will you get your new team partners started? This is CRITICAL!

 

Don't be afraid to call someone once they DO join your business. (I know, I've been there!)

 

Start with how your upline trained you!

 

I send a 10 point checklist to each new person getting started. 

 

Know the important things someone needs to get started. They don't need to know everything about the comp plan but there are a few key things they will need -

 

How to order

 

Back office navigation

 

How to sign up a customer

 

How to sign up a new distributor

 

How to share the business with others

 

Those are some key things to focus on!

Your Enticing Free Giveaway

Listen into Amber’s question about creating a free giveaway without giving away a lot of samples, as that can get expensive, especially if they are not qualified prospects.

 

I won’t get into the details of getting Facebook Fans here, as that is an entirely independent training!

 

Photos and Visual Marketing create powerful social proof, so keep Instagram, YouTube and Pinterest for this concept, and not just Facebook.

 

 

Giving away sample can be a great idea as an upset for a second look.

 

Consider creating a simple 1 -2 page Infographic (go to Fiverr.com to find someone) and pick out 5-10 key tips on how to succeed with a Detox, or whatever your particular product line is.

 

 

From the infographic, and in ongoing emails as part of your drip series, you can have videos that share more details and promote your product.

 

Don’t get overkill on selling your product. Sell the benefits of detoxing and then mention the product you used and a link. The more you sell the benefits of the process, and what they will gain, the higher the chance you’ll make the sale!

 

Recipes, maintenance tips and so on, will make for good ongoing content.

 

Make sure what you offer is of value, and not just a sales pitch. 

 

Short, sweet and the key tips will generate interest and not bog people down with too much information at once.

 

Offline giveaways are powerful too. I carry a sample bag that I can use to quickly demo skincare products and makeup colors. Super simple and creates impact.

As I launched a new business, Visual Marketing was an important factor for me in choosing a company. Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube for sure, and even Google Plus. Facebook, yes, but it’s ever-changing, as we know!

 

 

So, one thing I wanted to create for my team, is a Social Media training - exact steps on what to do, as well as the tools to help them develop a daily action plan for success.

 

 

On Instagram, I created a new profile.

Now, it takes TIME and a plan to get quality followers on Instagram, so be patient with the process, and don’t judge me, ha ha!

 

Always remember that quality always trumps quality any day!

 

 

Develop your strategy.

Video clips - 15 seconds and a POWERFUL platform!

 

Quick, visual and engaging, on how to use the product, how to develop that into a business and attract both customers and team partners.

 

As I do this, I am creating visual marketing pieces that my team can grab from my team training site and know what to do from the start.

 

It gives them ideas and now they are not sitting down at a blank screen, trying to figure things out. This will come over time.

 

Same with Pinterest, Facebook and Google Plus, as well as YouTube.

 

 

 

ACTION STEPS

 

 

What’s your flagship product and is it great for Visual Marketing?

 

Determine your own social media plan on each platform

 

Take action yourself first.

 

Share what you are doing and then “show and tell” what you are doing.

 

Invite them to emulate what you are doing.
