It's our self talk and the space right between our ears - our Mindset!

The hardest part of this business is between your ears. That’s right. It’s what goes on in your brain about your business. It’s the self talk and the fears, doubts and made up stuff that YOU and I both put into the mix.

So often we get signed up in a business, we get so excited and we make that list. We make a few calls, we get met with resistance and that’s when we begin to doubt our own decision. And why is that?

Why is it that we can put so much emphasis in another’s opinion about what we are doing? And, how much of the time is it really an opinion, as opposed to them just not wanting to get involved at this time?

Let me ask you something - how much time do you really spend thinking about what others around you are doing? How much time do you think they REALLY spend thinking about you and what you do?

We say things like -

MLM has a bad reputation and my friends might not approve.

I can’t call Dave; he’s super successful as an attorney and he would not be interested.

Or Jane’s a doctor, so she wouldn’t be interested.

Imagine shifting that to - Dave and Jane are two of the most successful people I know; they are exactly the type of people I would like to be working with. When you think about it, what do you have to lose by notifying everyone you know, and doing so using the third party approach.

Instead, most of us are making a decision for those who we know by assuming they won’t be interested. Think about some of the top people and income earners in your company. What were their professions before network marketing?

Let’s get into some things that you can do to create the vision and motivation you want to have success.

First, It is so important to set realistic expectations for yourself and your business. One of the biggest mistakes one can make is to set some super high goals that are so far outside of the ballpark that there is just no way to really achieve them. We get excited, and we think we are going to totally clear our calendar and do nothing but our business. Often, we do this at a Super Saturday, or initial training; or at our company convention and then we get back home and the real world and real life sets in. The kids need driven for car pool, the real job may still be there, and you can fill in the blank.

So, set some realistic goals and plans for yourself.

Having your goals in writing will help you and your team with what can be known as "buyer's remorse." This often comes up when a new rep gets started, talks to a few people and experience a "shut down" and then wonder if they made the right decision.  It's easy to get bogged down in other people's opinions that can be offered to us by someone who is not really familiar with what we are doing.

What is your WHY - why did you sign up? Take out your credit card and spend the money? What was the vision you saw? What do you intend to create?

There are times for all of us in this business when we feel disappointed; or let down. It's normal, whether you open an ice cream shop or start a network marketing business.

Call your sponsor when these happen and listen to their encouragement, as they have been there, too.

The primary shut downs are when someone tells us no; someone tells us we are crazy or laughs at our decision; or someone who we really thought was going to be a super star quits before they ever really get started.

Here's how you handle it: Get back into action.

When someone says no, make one more phone call. When someone laughs use the verbiage above to let them know they aren't entitled to share an opinion with you until they have looked at what you are doing, and then get back into action.

And, when someone quits, same thing – get into action and replace them with another. Also keep the lines of communication open because people DO come back!

Make up a vision and a dream of how you want things to go and focus on that!

"What is your vision created of … your past, your present or your future?"

We all have movies we run in our heads, moving pictures and they create the feelings that we feel around the things we do and experience. These are our personal visions.

When you think about what you want, do you have a vision in your mind that you play over and over of SEEING yourself getting it, achieving it; mastering it? IF you can answer YES, then you will also see that you are progressing toward it. It may be a slow pace, but your vision is what will move you into action.

Remember, your subconscious mind can not distinguish the difference between real and made up. If you tell it you earn $10,000 monthly from your business, it believes it and goes about finding a way to see the job through. When you falter, and go back to seeing yourself as never making more than $100 or so from your business, it believes it and goes about seeing that job through.

The conscious mind does know the difference. IT talks to you all of the time, very often with negative chatter and self opinions and judgments. It keeps us playing small.

So, what you need to know is make up your own movie of what you want and play it over and over again. One way that I do this is to create my own mp3, of what I want, how I see my life and my affirmations. I record it in my own voice and burn it to my iphone, and a cd and play it at night, as I fall asleep. I play it over and over again. I see it, I believe it and it has moved me through EVERYTHING that I once perceived as hard in this business.

Try it and see what happens. See if this business doesn’t just get easy all the way around!
