Cross Recruiting Ethics in Direct Sales

On today's show, Kyle asks a great question and that is - is cross recruiting illegal in Direct Sales and Network Marketing?

I'm not a legal expert, but no, it is not illegal. We are not employed by the direct sales company we represent, and so there aren't those types of legalities.

From an ethics standpoint, what is good moral behavior when it comes to Network Marketing and trying to cross recruit or move someone from one company to another?

First, use the concept of the golden rule - do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Makes perfect sense, right? You don't want people constantly going after your team; that downline you hav e worked so hard to build.

So, what are the Cross Recruiting Ethics in Direct Sales?

In Network Marketing, especially for those who are new, it's often easier to go after those who we already know are involved in our profession. It's not as simple as right or wrong.

But when you look deeper, is this really the right way to go about building a team. If they jump to your company, what stops them from jumping to another soon after?

And, while this may seem like the easy route to take, it's really not.

There are reasons to change companies that are valid, and other times when it's just trading one set of problems for another.

If you have real issues with your company, that seem unresolvable, and you just don't have the excitement or desire, or can't really stand behind a product line or company culture, then moving may be your best choice.

Many of us have joined companies only to find out that it is just not a great fit for us, for some reason.

IF it's just a challenge with actually buckling down and contacting people and sharing your network marketing business with them, then that is not going to instantly resolve itself with a new company.

So, what are the Cross Recruiting Ethics in Direct Sales? Go with your gut, in all situations. And, be a stand person for our profession.
